On August 6, 2020, Judith Gerlach, the Bavarian Minister for Digital Affairs, was a guest at the online marketing agency eology in Volkach. She was accompanied by Barbara Becker, Member of the Bavarian Parliament, Heiko Bäuerlein, Mayor of Volkach, and Marcel Hannweber, Economic Advisor in the District Council. eology is a showcase company in the digital context, which is why the Minister of State took a closer look at the company during her tour across the district.
At eology GmbH, Judith Gerlach learned how the company helps customers become visible in the search engine sector. Because whether in B2B or B2C, the first stop before buying a product or service is usually a Google search. Therefore, the agency develops individual strategies to place customers as high as possible in the search results. For this the enterprise provides search machine-optimized texts, places advertisement in the most diverse networks, consults with the technical optimization and operates on-line press work. On the basis of a customer example the attendants received concrete insights into the work of the agency.
Towards the end, everyone was able to convince themselves of the search engine agency’s expertise at first hand. In a quick check, the personal websites of the Minister of State and the members of the state parliament were examined more closely. Finally, the minister, the member of the state parliament and the mayor were challenged once again. In an interactive workshop, the three worked out terms for which they would like to be found in search engines. Keywords such as “digital Bavaria,” “care and health” and “mayor” came up.
But topics beyond digitization also were discussed. Volkach, for example, is a place that mainly profits from tourism. As one of the few companies in Volkach that does not live from this branch, the infrastructure is particularly important for eology. This includes not only good connections to public transportation, but also the expansion of the fiber optic network. At first glance, Volkach does not seem to be the most obvious location for an online marketing agency. However, due to the nearby University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg with its e-commerce degree program, there are many specialists in this field. In order to keep them loyal to the company and thus to Volkach in the long term, eology offers a number of employee benefits. These include, for example, a free vegetarian/vegan lunch, regular employee events, further training and job bike leasing.
