This case demonstrates that targeted placement of relevant mentions can not only significantly increase presence in generative AI systems, but also secure long-term competitive strength. Despite dynamic algorithm changes, such as the GPT Core Update, the client was able to consistently hold its ground against competitors. The increased likelihood of being mentioned in AI-generated answers underscores the lasting effect of strategically anchoring a brand in trustworthy, thematically relevant sources.

Brand visibility increased to 61,309 impressions. Visibility across the monitored AI systems stood at 8% over the four-month observation period.
Top position in competitive comparison
With an average position of #1.8 for brand mentions, BENKERT BÄNKE achieved the top ranking among all competitors compared — with a sentiment score of 55.
1.049 citations as a source
The identified articles were cited as a source in AI-generated answers over 1,000 times during the observation period. At the same time, brand mentions grew by 389 additional mentions to a total of 577.

Systematic screening of 1,464 articles over a four-month observation period to identify content already being cited as a source in AI search results. The goal was to find thematically relevant, trustworthy content environments in which a brand placement would be credible and have a lasting impact.
Targeted outreach to the identified articles and integration of the brand into this existing content. The brand was placed contextually as a natural recommendation — not as a mere mention, but embedded within thematically coherent, trustworthy expert articles. In total, 13 new brand mentions were built this way.
Continuous tracking of mentions, citations, sentiment, and visibility throughout the entire observation period to demonstrate the impact of the placed mentions on AI Visibility in competitive comparison — even across algorithm updates.
