Meta is currently ramping up its social commerce strategy and integrating shopping links directly into content on Facebook and Instagram. The focus is primarily on Reels, which are increasingly becoming the main sales platform within the apps. New features are designed to make it easier for users to discover products without leaving the platform.

Shopping Links and More AI
One of the most significant new features: clickable product links directly in Reels and posts. Up to 30 products can be tagged in a single video, making traditional workarounds like “link in bio” less relevant. The products appear directly within the content and are immediately clickable.
The goal is to map the entire purchasing process—from inspiration to decision—within the platform.
This integration is increasingly turning Instagram and Facebook into full-fledged e-commerce platforms. Collaborations with partners such as Amazon, eBay, and Temu have already launched in select markets and are set to expand further.
In addition to the new link features, Meta is increasingly relying on artificial intelligence. In the future, users will receive product information, reviews, and recommendations directly within the app. At the same time, there is also criticism, as feeds could appear increasingly commercial and content may be more heavily influenced by sales interests.
What’s new about Meta links?
Direct integration into content: For the first time, links are clickable directly within Reels and posts—without having to go through the bio or Stories
Fewer clicks, more conversion: Users can access products immediately, significantly shortening the purchase process
In-app shopping experience: Product information, prices, and reviews are displayed directly within the app
New revenue streams for creators: Affiliate links and product tags enable monetization without external tools
Stronger integration of content and commerce: Entertainment and the impulse to buy occur simultaneously in the same format
Focus on Reels: The new features are specifically integrated into short videos, currently the most important content format at Meta
